Shanghai, from up here
Me and Steph, top of a skyscraper, Shanghai stretching out behind us. One of those moments where you actually stop talking for a second.

We're here for WorldSkills 2026, covering Team UK. We're recording an episode of the Steph on Skills podcast from the WorldSkills UK stand, plus all the interviews and official bits on my list. And I'm doing what I always do - catching the quiet moments on the competition floor that nobody else sees. The glance. The focus. The stuff that happens between the scheduled shots.

73 countries, 64 skills, 1,400 competitors. The real stuff. The stuff that keeps the world turning.
I've filmed Team UK for a couple of years now, and they just keep raising the bar. But the skill level isn't what stays with you. It's the 5am practice. The way they help each other even though they're competing. The look on someone's face when they don't know the camera's rolling.
It's a privilege to be here highlighting their journey. Not glamorous - I'm knackered and my body clock is still in Kent - but it matters. These young people are world-class, and getting to show that is an honour.
The view from the rooftop was special. But the view I care about is on the competition floor.
Team UK - let's go.
